Mercedes-Benz and McLaren collaborated to build the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 199 series. From 2003 to 2009, the British automaker developed the super sports vehicle at Woking and Portsmouth, England. The SLR Uhlenhaut coupé from the 1950s served as inspiration for the vehicle, which also had butterfly doors and air vents on the sides and bonnet. 2,157 of the 3,500 units manufactured were purchased by the general public.
